The Man in purple

This morning, while I was sweeping the floor.
I remembered of my cousin, Madi.
It has been long time since the last time I met him.
“Where is my purple helmet?” one day Madi asked me “I can’t find it in my room”.

“I don’t know. Where did you put it?” I answered without look at him.

“If I remember it, I won’t ask you. Oh God, I cannot go without it” he was being panic.

“But you have two other helmets, haven’t you?” I tried to suggest him.

“Don’t you see? I wear my best purple shirt and jeans. Look at my shoes, it is purple too. It will be weird if I don’t wear purple helmet”. His answer made me look at him. I couldn’t believe with my ears but his face showed that he was serious.

“Ok! I think, I have to look for it once more” he disappeared into his room.

“Hey, you will be late to go to work!” I warned him.

“I won’t go anywhere without my purple helmet!” he shouted.

He is Madi, my 24 years cousin who is always crazy about purple, his favorite color.

            Entering his room, the first thing that we will realize is his room is dominated by purple. The walls, carpet, and bedcover are in purple. In the corner of room, there is a purple ball above the table which full of his purple things such as: hairbrush, perfume’s bottle, hair spray, and caps.

            How he dressed, we can guess. Purple shirts, purple t-shirts, purple jackets, purple sweaters, purple pants, purple shorts, purple jeans and purple shoes always cover his thin body. He also has green shoes. Even green is not his favorite color, but this shoes is one of his favorites. This pair of shoes is a present which given by his girlfriend in his last birthday. One day, he wore his purple shirt, jeans and the green shoes, it makes me I laughed at him because it made him seems like an eggplant with its stalk.

            Purple is identical with image of widow. That’s why some of his friends often make jokes about purple in front of him. He never complains about it, though. According to him, purple is symbol of luxurious, happiness, and faithful. He also laughs when a friend tells a joke about his favorite color.

            Madi always enjoys his enthusiasm of purple. I also think that he is cool. I like his style and the way he crazy about purple. In purple he finds himself, in purple he finds his own world. Madi is my favorite cousin, the man in purple.

 Now, he works in Medan.
